KASHMIR।The prominent sociopolitical activist Syed Karar Hashmi, studying at Qom Seminary in the Islamic Republic of Iran paid rich tributes on the 6th Martyrdom Anniversary of Dr Syed Shujat Bukhari and 28th Death anniversary of his grandfather Syed Manzoor Hashmi, both big guns from North Kashmir Barmaulla.
In a statement to the press he said that Dr Syed Shujat Bukhari was silenced for speaking the truth and his departure on this day left a void which is hard to fill. On 14th June 2018, the country lost its fearless iconic leader, an institution of Journalism in himself, who gave his blood hoping for peace.
He also paid tribute to his grandfather Syed Manzoor Hashmi on his 28th death anniversary, who was a well-known name in the literary, linguistic, compilation and educational circles of Kashmir.He was a prolific writer,poet,critic,author,researcher and analyst and educator. Garmal, Loluk Sargam and Ichhar Phula are his well-known literary creations. In recognition of these four collections of poetry, Hashmi was awarded by the State Academy of Culture. Hashmi Sahib was also very proficient in prose.
He said that both Bukhari and Hashmi were literary figures from Village Kreeri and the watergam of North Kashmir, Barmaulla. Late Bukhari served as the president of Adabi Markaz Kamraz, a literary forum that works for the promotion of the Kashmiri language. Their contributions to Kashmiri art, culture and language have been promising and revolutionary. He prayed Almighty Allah to bless the highest position to departed souls in Jannatul Firdous.
