Srinagar/Ludhiana:In a major development following the recent controversy at CT University, the Vice-Chancellor has been removed from his position over alleged misbehaviour with Kashmiri students.
Reacting to the action taken, Ayaz Darwi, State General Secretary of Janata Dal (United) JKUT, expressed gratitude to the NDA Government and the Punjab Government for their timely intervention.
In his statement,Ayaz Darwi said:
“I sincerely thank the NDA Government at the Centre and the Punjab Government for taking swift and decisive action in the matter. The dignity, safety, and rights of students—especially those studying outside their home state—must always be protected. This step reinforces the message that no student should face discrimination or humiliation.”
He further stated that justice and accountability are essential to maintaining harmony and trust in educational institutions. He emphasized that such prompt action strengthens confidence among students from Jammu & Kashmir studying across India.
Darwi also urged all universities to remain sensitive toward religious practices and ensure an inclusive and respectful academic environment.
The issue had sparked protests after Kashmiri students alleged inappropriate behaviour by the university administration during Ramadan-related arrangements. Following the backlash and public pressure, authorities intervened and action was taken.
Further administrative proceedings are expected as the inquiry continues.
