Srinagar, Feb 24: State General Secretary of Janata Dal (United) JKUT, Ayaz Darwi, on Monday expressed serious concern over disturbing reports from CT University alleging harassment of Kashmiri students and denial of Sehri and Iftari during the holy month of Ramadan.
In a strong statement, Darwi termed the allegations “deeply troubling and unacceptable in a democratic society.” He said that if the reports are found to be true, the matter represents a grave violation of constitutional rights, religious freedom, and basic human dignity.
He urged the University Grants Commission to immediately initiate a fair and time-bound inquiry into the incident. “Educational institutions must uphold equality and ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students, irrespective of their region or religion,” he stated.
Darwi further called upon the Union Education Minister, Punjab Government, and Punjab Police authorities to take swift action to ensure the safety and dignity of Kashmiri students studying outside Jammu & Kashmir.
Reiterating JDU JKUT’s commitment to justice and equality, he said the party stands firmly with students facing discrimination and will continue to raise its voice until accountability is ensured.
