Srinagar, February 16, 2026: Renowned Socio-Political Activist , community leader and tourism advocate Syed Irfan Hashmi today commended Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha for ordering the reopening of multiple tourist destinations across the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, following a thorough security review.
In a statement, Syed Irfan Hashmi expressed heartfelt appreciation for the proactive move, stating, This is a welcome and timely decision by LG Shri Manoj Sinha that will rejuvenate our tourism sector, boost local livelihoods, and showcase the unparalleled beauty of J&K to the world. After temporary closures as precautionary measures, reopening these gems demonstrates balanced governance prioritizing both security and economic revival.
The Lieutenant Governor’s directive immediately greenlights 11 tourist spots in the Kashmir Division: Yousmarg and Doodhpathri in Budgam; Dandipora Park in Kokernag; Peer Ki Gall, Dubjan, and Padpawan in Shopian; Astanpora and Tulip Garden in Srinagar; Thajwas Glacier and Hung Park in Ganderbal; and Wullar/Watlab in Baramulla.
In the Jammu Division, three sites Devi Pindi in Reasi, Mahu Mangat in Ramban, and Mughal Maidan in Kishtwar will also reopen without delay. Additionally, four more destinations Gurez, Athwatoo, and Bangus in Kashmir Division, and Ramkund in Ramban (Jammu Division) are slated to follow once snow clearance is complete.
Hashmi urged tourists to plan visits responsibly, adhering to safety guidelines, and called on stakeholders to ensure seamless arrangements. “J&K’s natural splendor, from snow-capped glaciers to lush meadows, awaits. This step not only revives tourism but also fosters peace and prosperity in our region,” he added.
